Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating is a condition that can affect men and women. Sweating keeps us cool, but for some people this overproduction can be extremely troublesome and affect their lifestyle.
What is the cause of hyperhidrosis?Heat and psychological triggers may cause hyperhidrosis in some people, but others – regardless of the weather or their mood – still suffer with excessive sweating.
Focal hyperhidrosis is the most common type with areas of excessive sweating including the hands, feet, underarms and forehead.
How do we treat hyperhidrosis?Hyperhidrosis can be treated on the forehead and underarms with injections of Botox®. It binds to the nerves that control the sweat glands in the skin and can reduce sweating by up to 80% for six to eight months.
Is the treatment safe?Yes Botox® can be safely injected with a minimal chance of side effects. You will have a consultation with one of our trained medical laser practitioners who will go through the procedure in detail and answer any questions you may have.
Who will carry out my treatment?Your treatment will be carried out by our consultant cosmetic surgeon Dr Chris Inglefield, who has had over 12 years’ experience in the management of hyperhidrosis.
